
This assignment was to create a Valentine’s day themed mock-cover for the New Yorker. I chose a cool-colored palette because I wanted to convey a romantic scene without leaning heavily into the common red-pink-white color palette often associated with Valentine’s day and romance. The scene depicts a young couple who are just starting out in the city, content with each other and their cat and few belongings during the winter holiday. Below are a few ideations and color-stories and messed with before I decided on the scene I went with.
